Forecast Discussion:
Today will be an active day for much of the state, as several factors come together to bring widespread rainfall to southern, central, and northern Arizona. Unfortunately for Yuma, the activity is expected to remain mostly to the east of the area, though we can't completely rule out all slight chances for rain. That being said, gusts from thunderstorms to the east are still looking like they could impact Yuma this evening/night, brief blowing dust may be possible.
Then after today, conditions should start to calm down and dry out, thereby diminishing the potential for dust. Therefore, both PM10 (dust) and PM2.5 (smoke) will return to mostly locally driven.
Lastly, ozone levels should remain low most days, though ozone may trend upwards on Friday and Saturday because of winds gaining a more westerly (out of the west) direction.
Overall, all pollutants are forecast in the Good AQI category for now.
